Lee Glendon met head-teacher Dave Donaldson on 8th March
Lee Glendon, Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Bracknell visited Wildridings Primary School on 8th March to meet with Head-teacher Dave Donaldson together with School Governor David Maxwell. Mr Donaldson gave Lee an informative tour of the school which caters for children from nursery through to eleven years of age - some 375 children in total.
"It was a delight to look around the school and see the hard work of teachers, class room assistants, parents and volunteers from local businesses such as Boehringer Ingelheim working hard for their pupils. I was particularly impressed with the Aztec project and the excellent face masks crafted by the children. It is clear that Wildridings is a great school with an excellent teaching and learning environment." Lee Glendon said.
Lee also discussed issues of class sizes, league tables and funding with Mr Donaldson. There are two key policy proposals from the Lib Dems that would help primary schools:
1. Lib Dems would scrap the Gordon Brown's "baby bond" scheme - Child Trust Fund - and invest the £1,500 million into early years education - reducing class sizes to an average of "20" at 7 years and an average of "25" at 11 years.
2. Lib Dems would also scrap SAT examinations at Key Stage 1 (7-year-olds) and Key Stage 2 (11-year-olds). This would help pupils and teachers alike.
