Bracknell & Wokingham College's 700 students receive almost £250,000 less funding per year than they would if they studied at a local school sixth form. Despite many students preferring the college environment and a Labour manifesto commitment in 2001 to end the inequality there is a persistent funding gap which still averages some 10%.
Lee Glendon, Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate, is supporting the college's demand for fair funding. He said:
"We have already committed to provide fair funding by the end of the next Parliament - this will cost £350 million nationally which we will fund by cutting back on wasteful Labour spending. Bracknell & Wokingham College provides an excellent service for local people and deserves to receive the same funds for doing the same work that school sixth forms provide."
