Ray Earwicker your PPC for Bracknell

'Long term local campaigner and former Town Mayor of Sandhurst, Ray Earwicker, has been unanimously elected as PPC for Bracknell. Ray formerly stood for the seat in the 2001 General Election and was a candidate in 2005 while he was a Liberal Democrat councillor on Bracknell Forest Borough Council.

At the last General Election the Party increased its share of the vote to 19.8%, from 17.1% in 2001 and 15.4% in 1997. During the same period both the Conservative and Labour votes fell in absolute terms and Labour's share of the vote actually dropped from 33.0% in 2001 (and 29.8% in 1997) to 26.2% in 2005.

Speaking after the result was announced, Ray said 'he was extremely pleased to be representing Bracknell again at the next election. He was determined to maintain the progress that had been made in recent years. Newly elected constituency Chairman, Steve Pope, welcomed Ray's appointment and added that the constituency had been a safe Tory seat for long enough. With Labour in serious decline and the Tories undoubtedly weakened by the latest parliamentary boundary changes, he was confident the party would continue to improve at the next election.'
