EUROPEAN ELECTION RESULTS IN THE SOUTH EAST
The elections to the European Parliament showed a major success for the clear ‘Stop Brexit’ message of the Liberal Democrats. Going from 1 Member of the European Parliament (MEP) before the election to 15 MEPs afterwards.
In Bracknell Forest the Liberal Democrats gained 17.5% of the vote share, moving from our 6th place finish in 2014 to a comfortable 2nd place. This was more votes than Labour and the Conservatives combined. Thank you to the nearly 7,000 voters who came out on election day to support us. The local Bracknell Forest team campaigned in every single one of the 18 wards of Bracknell Forest, speaking to hundreds of residents and delivering over 6,500 leaflets.
In the South East the Liberal Democrats gained vote share across the entire area, going from 1 MEP in 2014 to 3 MEPs. This means that alongside Catherine Bearder we will have two more MEPs for our region who will fight for the interests of South East England in the European Parliament.
MEET YOUR NEW MEPs
Alongside Catherine Bearder, the South East is now also represented by Anthony Hook and Judith Bunting. Judith is a Berkshire local, who was the Parliamentary Candidate for Newbury in 2017. Berkshire now has a representative in the European Parliament who will stand up for our local interests.
